A lot of the people who use this site are handling a family member's estate, working from a phone in a rural part of Virginia, or reading small print they would rather not have to read at all. We build the site with that in mind.

What we aim for

  • Text contrast, heading structure and link labels that follow WCAG 2.1 level AA as our target.
  • Full keyboard operation of the navigation and of every step of the intake form.
  • Labels tied to each form field, with errors described in words rather than color alone.
  • Layouts that work at small widths and when text is enlarged in the browser.
  • No automatic popups, interstitials or timed content that can interrupt reading.

Where we know we fall short

We test with keyboard navigation and browser zoom, not with every assistive technology in use. We have not commissioned a third-party audit, and we will not claim a certification we do not hold. If something on the site does not work with your screen reader, magnifier or switch device, that is a fault worth reporting rather than a limitation you should have to work around.

You never have to use the form

Every piece of information the intake form collects can be given to us by phone or email instead, and we are happy to fill it in on your behalf while we talk. Nothing on this site requires an online submission.

Reporting a problem
